Midnight

About

Abby is determined to make friends at her new elementary school. The only issue is that she has a several-year gap in social experience, a ghostly figure following her everywhere she goes, and a monstrous reputation that’s been built up in her absence. She’s sure that won’t be too much of a setback. After all, she’s just as kind and capable as anyone else, isn’t she?A.M. is a potential adult animated series about finding normalcy in a strange, painful, and often times terrifying situation. There is currently a completed test pilot as well as an in-production prequel animatic series, and hopefully much more to come in the future!

Characters

Abby West -- sludge

Abby just wants to be a normal twelve-year-old girl, and at first glance, she is. She’s fun-loving, energetic, and all smiles. Behind the mask, though, Abby is a lonely girl. There is a hole in her heart that she is certain only a friend can fill.Because Abby so desperately needs a friend, she can’t afford to be different. That’s why nobody can know about the panic attacks and the amnesia and the scars littering her body and the times where she can’t tell if she’s really a person or if she’s just a thing piloting a body. She doesn’t know why she has these problems, and Midnight doesn’t let her dwell on their origins. All she can do is prove that she’s just as capable as her peers in spite of it all; all she can do is prove that she deserves a friend.

Midnight -- blood

Midnight is what she and Abby call a “backup.” Apart from special circumstances, nobody but Abby can see or hear her. Midnight claims to be a helper who has been assigned to Abby in place of her parents, giving her advice and taking over when things get to be too much.Midnight has learned to adopt a life-or-death mentality when facing new problems. This becomes a major issue when Abby insists on going back to school, as Midnight treats the school grounds like a war zone and wants Abby to do the same.

Dawn Minster -- ink

Dawn has come to love her niece, Abby, more than anything in the world. She constantly dotes on her, to Abby’s delight. Despite the unique (and exhausting) issues that Abby provides, Dawn couldn’t be happier to be entrusted as her guardian.Dawn loves Midnight too, although she has a harder time understanding and expressing love to the girl. Midnight, on the other hand, does not like Dawn at all, and will often force a distance between Dawn and Abby.

Rebecca Landry -- scratches

Rebecca believes that she is seen as a queen bee figure, and nobody has the heart to correct her. She paradoxically thinks that she's both perfect and an utter failure, which causes her to come across as confusing and unpredictable, especially given her incredibly short temper. She is also the manipulative type, and will sometimes convince her friends that she is allowed to use them as punching bags.

Mary Abilene -- tendrils

Mary is incredibly tired of life, but she continues to live for the sake of the people who need her. She channels her self-hatred into an urge to protect those who, for reasons she can’t understand, care about her. She is more than willing to be a target for other people's anger as well, sometimes to the point that she actively encourages it.

Emerald Svajonė -- fire

Emerald is the self-designated comic relief. Her friend group often finds their way into stressful situations, and she has learned that cracking a joke is usually the most effective way to lighten the mood. Of course, she has her own struggles, but she tends to shove them down in favor of keeping the peace and maintaining her beloved status quo.
